KPMG worth more in the long run
I had the same choice to make 7 years ago. I picked baker tilly for the title. I should have gone KPMG. Future employers don’t care if you were a senior as much as they just care seeing a B4.
Laughing at all these big 4 shills… smh
I’m not saying that big 4 does anything better than BDO, but if me and you are competing for a job and both have the same years of experience (you at BDO and me at PwC) I have a better shot at landing the job even if I have no idea what I am doing. Just the way it is fam. So you can laugh all you want. I work less and get paid more than my friends at BDO.
if you’re interested to join Deloitte, DM me for referral.
I chose BT over PwC as a senior (several years ago now). Absolutely no regrets. I have done way better for myself at BT than I would have been able to at PwC, unquestionably. Depends on the life you want for yourself.
However, I had started at Deloitte so I knew what B4 was like and no thank you, I did my time. But it's true that experience will carry you for years.
Former big 4 and BT here. KPMG is the answer if you don’t have big 4 on your resume. If you have a few years of big 4 on your resume BT is a nice change of pace
Big 4, and I never worked at the big 4. It's a check-the-box item on so many job applications. Either B4 required or preferred. It's crazy to me that it seems to be valued equivalent to getting a master's degree or equal to having your CPA, but it basically is.
Ideal candidates for most accounting jobs have all three: big 4 experience, CPA, and a master's degree.
Never mind competence (employers prefer to use these than use their brains to determine if someone is competent and a good fit)
Baker Tilly is good in my opinion if you want a good work life balance. Big 4 do not offer that. Depends where you’re at and what you value currently in your life.
Big 4 looks good, of course but good workers aren’t just at big 4 and you can and will be successful regardless.
@Senior Associate 2 What is the best way to set boundaries or how do you set boundaries?
if you plan to be at baker Tilly for a year or so before making a jump sure but long term KPMG is prob the better choice
KPMG
The work culture is sooo much better at Baker Tilly than at a Big 4. The benefits, PTO and respect for your down time are more important for your health, and the pay is comparable.
Kpmg
KPMG
KPMG
I would choose KPMG. You will be promoted after a year. Baker Tilly pays for senior = KPMG pays for experienced hire. That means Baker Tilly underpays you.
Just my thoughts based on what OP said.
KPMG.
Come to Baker Tilly. I've had a great experience here so far and I recommend it.
If you want to exit to private, for sure KPMG. If you want to stay in PA long-term and want wtter WLB I'd take BT.
What is the salary going for now as an experienced/senior associate? What office location or state?
