I have an offer I signed where they want me to give a start date . Its 185k base 6% 401k.
I am at the end of final round for Microsoft customer success manager position. I actually did 3 interviews for final round but need to do another one with 2 managers who have roles i may be fit for. The HR did say the top range for the position base is 150. Should I give my start date and see where this Microsoft role goes? I don't know how much TC I can get from MS. Any insight would be helpful. 12yoe

Is it Accenture? Anyway, you already signed, so maybe give a date a bit further out and see where MSFT goes.

No not acc but decent company. Should I delay response by few days or respond Monday and give it out 3 weeks? I know the MS manager emailed me last night saying they will try to fit me next week. So figure i would decide whichever route the week after next and can officially put 2 week notice the week after but the other company won't know difference since I said 3 weeks.

Or should I go 4 weeks?

Microsoft base might be low, but you will get RSU, and also 401K is 50% of your contribution. I'll give a start date, and continue with interviewing with Microsoft. Until you have Microsoft offer at hand, everything is hypothetical.

Good luck

Thanks for the insight. This might be a stupid question but how do I post in MS group? It just has follow in that bowl. The other ms group has couple hundred people..

Is the other role good? Maybe ask hr if they can expedite the process because you have another offer on the table. If you already signed, you might as well give a start date. Either way if you take Microsoft you’ll be reneging

The other role is more of a software dev role since I have software dev experience and some management experience. I can see myself go either route. I do want to learn cloud and I feel I can get exposure from both

Ex-D, joined MS last year and left for PwC this year 🙋🏻‍♀️ Where are you in your career? MS pays well for the work, but the work is smaller because MS has the tendency to have multiple people doing one job. MS is good as the last job before retirement, and the corporate culture is akin to GPS clients (e.g., tenure and gender trumps, not merit), just with very VERY deep pockets. If you still have ambition, look elsewhere. If you’re completely burned out and want to coast indefinitely, join MS.

Yes from the interview I get the vibe many people have overlapping responsibilities. I don't want to coast yet but if I get the job maybe use as springboard for tpm roles since this would be manager role and the brand name will help. Either way not even sure I get the job yet.

I was just talking to a younger friend who goes to Cal and It seems like the kids these days hate FAANG or at least Amazon and Facebook are not desired at all. I personally don’t see too many issues working at either Amazon or Facebook because I work at Deloitte where I’m sure we have many questionable clients and worked in financial services before. Curious on whether people are thinking about the ethics of their exit company when deciding to move?
