I have an offer to serve as a Senior Program Manager at Amazon but I haven’t been able to find information to indicate Amazon has a positive culture that enables a work-life balance. I’m a high performer and not afraid to put in the work when it requires long hours and supporting on-demand priorities but my hope is that the culture is more proactive than reactive. Would anyone have any insight on that? For those who currently work at Amazon — are you happy? Would you do it over again?

Hadn’t noticed this sub before, and most of the threads are old so thought I’d ask a follow up - how has everyone been handling parenting with public accounting? I’ve got a toddler and my wife is an accountant (industry), and we only have a few immediate family in the country- but they have health concerns. Busy season was rough, things are looking better now as things return to normal. Still working crazy hours if you count the daycare duties on top of utilization targets.

What do you all normally do in your downtime at work? I used to be in a high stress, high tempo office but moved to a better paying role with much less responsibility. I’m still adjusting to have all this free time on my hands and need something to keep me busy throughout the day.

Case load= malpractice? Small plaintiff’s firm of 25 attorneys. I was a 2 year associate hired and given 50 active files in pre litigation status. 9 mos later a partner quit and I inherited 45 more. I got up to 105 files. Now I hover at 85 active files in varying stages of pre lit. I asked managing partner for help and was told to settle more claims to lessen my load. Is this what people consider negative work culture?
