Just pasting a comment that I made in another post a while ago - if you need specifics feel free to ask:
Just took the process for consultant - among other firms. But in order:
Fit interview: Very short interview to assess your background and your communications skills. 15min talk with someone one or two levels above you (got an Associate).
1st round interview: Usually for a consultant with a background in consulting, even for intern (as in my case), you get 2 to 4 levels above. I got a senior associate and an EM. The fit part tends to be pretty straightforward (similar to Bain, at least in my exp). The cases tho, one of them was the hardest 1st round case I've ever took. The other was hard, but not that hard (1st case about real state insurance and mortage market, involving risk and growth for a startup company - took me 40min to do the case alone, at the interview told me I was one of the fastest. Second case was about a credit card fidelity program, very quantitative but nothing extraordinary).
2nd round: First case was with a recently hired partner. Seems like a great guy, we had a lot of chem (Imho). We finished the interview in 30min (fit + case), the case was a market equilibrium case where it had a little trick at the end. We spent another 30min talking about MBA sponsorship and his challenge to start a new practice in his current office.
Second case was it a principal, very straightforward case of estimation + market sizing of total of transactions using an specific way called Pix (Brazil).
Addition interview: I asked for them to accelerate the process due to having a BCG offer + two IB offers + waiting for Bain answer of 2nd interview (they have 3 rounds), so they scheduled an additional interview. Got a partner unreadable. I couldn't figure it out nothing during the interview. The case was a straightforward quantitative case about credit margins for banks, and challengers vs current major players - nothing hard only percentage and multiplication calculations. At the end there was a qualitative analysis but very short.
That was it. Ended up getting (and accepting) their offer, will start at the end of july/beginning of august, depends on when Exactly I graduate (mechanical engineering).
The fit parts were in general similar: why Oliver, why consulting, why are you leaving your current firm, what things thrives you, etc.
Thanks so much for your detailed - really helpful as I’m preparing for interviews
If it’s virtual, I suggest overcommunicating so the interviewer can follow along with your thinking! Good luck :)
