I have been unemployed since January 1 of this year. Laid off over the holidays. Have many interviews with companies. Four of them went all the way through final 4th round with one 20 hour case assignment. All of them ended with rejection, and two of them I was the second runner up candidate.

Applied to 832 jobs so far. This is an exact number as I made an air table sheet to track all of them. I’d say about 40% of these also had referrals. None of these really helped.

Feeling exhausted

I applied through a referral at Deloitte advisory, but it’s been a while. I had a recruiter reach out for Deloitte Advisory, would the recruiter help at all? Or would it just be a waiting game for the referral?

Is it worth applying for a position with a firm you are directly adverse to on a matter or will conflicts definitely keep you from joining?

The severance package at Meta for laid off employees almost makes it nice to be laid off depending on what your personal situation is….. personally wouldn’t mind getting 4+ months of full pay to reset and think about what’s next 😬

After 6 years of temporary contracts and unstable situations, I find my dream job in my dream company. All of a sudden the world goes upside down and I get laid off. I start sending hundreds of applications, with only 2 recruiters getting back to me to say I don’t have experience for the job (this is how it works in Italy). Add a terrible health situation in my family and it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh. 😞

6 months pregnant and just laid off. And 40% of my severance was just taken in taxes .. I just spoke with paid family leave and I no longer qualify even though I had been paying into the program (thanks NY).. I already applied for unemployment but doctors are telling me I’ve got 10-14 weeks left in this pregnancy.. so stressed having twins and being unemployed, no maternity leave, no paychecks coming in, and I’ve been applying but not a single interview.. just ugh. 😭
