McKinsey & Company I have had enough and have been thinking of taking a mental health leave. Would someone know how many weeks can I take and will it be unpaid? Alternatively, can I use short term disability (STD)?

This was a not uncommon thing back like 2022 when everyone was very burned out. Use all sick time, pto, beach, and up to STD, but i think they got more stringent on that. Like anything, the firm reacts when the minions begin to Crack and leave en masse
Go for FMLA, it will be 12 weeks unpaid
In most companies, they run concurrently. FMLA is meant to protect your job. STD protects your income (to a certain percentage). You have to get the reason for your absence certified by a doctor and approved by your company’s STD administrator (most larger companies use a 3rd party for this).
You can have a doctor say you need time off ( through official documentation). You will get either 4 or 8 weeks full pay and then 2/3 pay.
Check hR policies for exact amount of full pay time. I needed the time off when a parent passed way and Cognizant was VERY accommodating
