I have to move to SF soon for work as a single, mid-30s guy and am kind of concerned tbh. I've heard SF is terrible socially, for dating, etc. Plus, I don't work in tech (I'm in finance) and am not interested in discussing AI for hours like my some of SWE friends do. I'm also not really a drinker/partier. I like being active (gym, racquet sports, hiking mainly), music, and film. Any advice on navigating the SF social scene as an old fart with no social connections to ease the transition?

Hi all! I’ve been dating my bf for about 4 months now and there are some things he says/is into that make me believe he is either Bisexual or has gender dysphoria. I could really use someone’s advice who has a similar experience like this. Is anyone willing to chat? I just want to be supportive and helpful.

Any other first years out there worry that this virtual environment just won’t be able to teach them? I worry I’m not getting the same “plugged in” experience when I can’t knock on a door or walk into an office. Doesn’t help that my anxiety is heightened by feeling so isolated.
