North beach, Russian / Nob hill are your safest and most walkable to FiDi with good transit... itâs a long way to SFO and your budget will be right there. SOMA is a lot better for SFO and still FiDi walking, but I wouldnât recommended it.. doesnât have any of the SF charm, not very clean and too many tourists.
Hayes Valley, Lower Haight, Castro, & Mission are ~30+ minute walks to FiDi, but are connected by bus, much easier to get SFO and $3k will get you a lot more options.. All are safe (Mission has some bad spots though). Bernal Heights & Noe Valley are great for SFO, too far to walk to FiDi and itâll be a long transit commute, but safe and the most affordable
20s/Fđ â I live in Nob Hill & love it. If I had to pick another neighborhood itâd be a tie between Russian Hill and Northbeach. Most neighborhoods will have access to good buses, but these 3 are all close to FiDi and my weekly trip to the airport is ~25 mins
Woohoo... thatâs a lot. PS.
- living in Lower Haight itâs a great neighborhood, but I also donât go to FiDi..
- Transit sucks in SF, pretty much just buses connect the city.
