I have to travel to another country for a 2-month contract but won't be able to take my doggo with me, and I've been devastated for the last few days since I'm leaving in two days. Luckily, I have an amazing friend who is willing to take care of her, so I know she's in good hands. Have you had to leave your dog with someone else for a long period? What did you have to deal with - physically, emotionally, etc? And what did your dog have to deal with? This is my first time, so I'd like to prepare!

Know that you both will have a fair amount of separation anxiety and the best thing you can do for you and your dog is to read about it and be aware of its symptoms so you don't get consumed. You're lucky you have a friend,.. dropping her off at doggie day care or hiring someone to sit her for that long would have cost you an arm and a leg.

I leave mine with my parents. It helps me knowing that he is best buds with one of their dogs. It does take my guy a day or two to adjust to me not coming back and picking him up but he's fine after that. He did his first long stint that was for a month last year for me and it was hard coming off of one trip and not picking up my dog, but I was to leave the next week and my parents thought it would be best to just keep him the entire time to. It have to get him readjusted. It was great being reunited though and he was so excited when I came back for him.

My dog is better off with my friends... my parents are not dog-friendly haha. Such a cute story, I already can't wait to come back and get him. I can't believe that's two months away

You can always put a camera in and talk with your dog and see it when ever you want I have friend that is what they do, that might be a idea

So recently my SO has been accusing me of being in control of when we are intimate (sex and cuddling). She says that every time she wants to I say no - and whenever I want to - she says yes. So it's by default doing whatever I want when I want. It's a gross exaggeration of what's happening - but does anyone ever deal with something like this? How do you say no to something like that - without your partner thinking you're just looking out for yourself or you're controlling?

Lyft driver delayed picking me up 30 min, resulting in me canceling my ride and asking hotel to call me a “yellow taxi” to get to the airport because it was 5am and all ubers/lyfts were 15 min. Specifically said yellow. Hotel calls me a private lux SUV and the driver got out of the car to handshake the man who called and said hi (honestly money couldve been passed). I then get hit with a $180 ride. Marriott website says taxi should be $65. Should I complain or let it go?

Has anyone ever done aggression training for their dog? Met with a trainer who basically wants us to either keep our dog crated or on a leash at all times and said no pets or play time for now. Our dog has been acting out ever since we brought home our newborn and also bit our groomer. Trainer has me terrified that the dog will hurt the baby but my heart is breaking that I can’t give any “love” to my dog right now. Any similar experiences or thoughts?

PSA: For single folks who live alone & have 4 legged children - a morbid but logical tip my vet shared was to buy a water dispenser bowl for your pet. Reason is that if you get into a car accident or something happens to you that prevents you from getting home to them, a water dispenser should supply them w several days of water. Dogs can go 5-7 days without food, but will die after 2-3 days without water
