if you don't get an interview, its your resume. How you present your internship experience is more or less everything.
Keep in mind having internships will get you above those with no internships. But what you did in them ends up becoming a defining factor.
At the end of the day there's a lot of competition, so you have to ask yourself how you will stand out from the pack.

I hear you, but I think it really depends on the market at a given time.

Totally hear you—it’s frustrating how many entry-level roles expect 2+ years of experience for what should be a learning opportunity. One thing that helped me was re-framing my internship projects like real-world outcomes. Instead of saying, “I interned on X,” I’d say “I helped launch Y feature that impacted Z users”—even if it was in a support role. Also, don’t be afraid to brag a little in cover letters. If the system is noisy, sometimes you’ve got to shout. Keep going—it’s rarely about you, and often about timing.
