I have worked in a big Canadian bank for many years as a product manager (payments and deposit related), but am looking to pivot into smaller Canadian fintech companies. I find that each product manager role has over 200 applications and it’s so hard to stand out in a sea of resumes. Any advice? Is the answer to just network like crazy and get referrals to even have a chance at interviews?

Should I edit the header to Rs. Xx which is below 10k hence tax exempted and stick to info as per 26AS?

Flexible on format etc; here’s what I’m thinking:
- We choose a particular problem for a week (/month?) which a lot (all?) PMs face regularly. E.g. “stakeholder mapping”
- we have a “Fishbowl Live event” where we (practicing PMs) can discuss what we have seen work / not work/ brainstorm solutions for someone with a specific problem.

The idea is to provide multiple peer perspectives, and hopefully something useful

One key mistake I made while trying to get into PM was to tailor my resume bullet points towards *proving* I was a PM (I did user research! I defined the product vision!) vs. explaining what exactly I did. More lessons learned / tips and tricks 🔗 below.

I think I'm really bad at communication, storytelling, active listening etc. I'm good at 1-1 relationships, but really bad in 1-many scenarios. I just sound stupid often.
