I have worked in GIS for at least 3 years and is currently looking for another role. My issue is I have a bias on open-source software personally so I've been with QGIS since the start. Though I managed to use ArcGIS from a colleague's laptop and it's great to use (I find it expensive though)

Most, if not all job postings here seem to prefer Esri products and anyone with a Geomapping/Engineering related background (I'm in IT). Can I ask for an advice how to approach this?

Follow up post to my last post…My husband was laid off from the company where I also work. I am feeling really isolated / depressed about working and moving forward. Why is education deemed more valuable on a pay scale than experience? Employers will pay someone with a degree and no experience a greater salary, than someone who has exhibited the experience. Understanding that the degreed person committed to school and finished, yet that doesn't diminish what the not degreed has committed to and accomplished in their careers. This has to stop!

Not sure whether to be honest or not in this situation. I have decided that I want to leave my job and do a masters degree. I have 13YOE managing cross-departmental projects and people, and I’d like to shed the general EA work of calendars/travel/expenses. But recruiters just see my most recent role is EA and that’s all they want to talk to me about. I’m hoping a better written resume will help target algorithms to get my resume viewed for other roles.
