I just earned my adjuster license and plan to start in claims, but I'm really curious about other insurance careers. What are other roles within the industry that I could potentially pivot to with claims experience?

It depends on the years of experience you have. After 10 years of experience as a workers’ compensation adjuster, I transitioned to working for an insurance broker as a Claims Consultant/ Advocate. You can also pursue a career in underwriting, premium audit, construction defect, cybersecurity, business consulting. The main goal is to get as much insurance experience and education in more than one line of insurance.

That’s a great starting point. Claims gives you a solid foundation because you’ll learn policy language, customer interactions, and how to assess risk. From there, a lot of people move into underwriting, risk management, or even product development.

Im a RN and took on a new role working in Home Health.
