I just finished my third consecutive 80-hour week in audit, and I think I finally hit my limit when I started crying over a missing receipt for $4.00. I’ve been told it gets better at Manager, but looking at my boss’s bloodshot eyes, I’m starting to think that’s a lie. I have my CPA and three years of experience, so I know I have options. What moves will actually make the Sunday scarries go away?

If you're literally working 80-hour weeks, that alone is all the reason you need to find a new job. You've got options, no need to be punishing yourself.

Yeah, if youre working 80 hour weeks, it isnt getting better... find a firm with better resources. We are all short staffed as an industry, but my last first we did 60 (55 billable) hours a week, my new firm is 50 (45 billable)

like

Exactly! You’ve got options and it sounds like you are young.

How’s the rest of your year? If you know 80 hours a week is a short term thing for a few weeks, ok maybe… if the rest of your year is pretty good and manageable, and includes many 40 hour or less weeks and no stress about taking vacation, etc.

When I was at KPMG we only worked 55 billable hours per week during busy season. You can find that or better elsewhere.

When you recruiters say at the end of a 15 min call.
“I will get back to you by the end of this week” does that really mean “your not right for this position”? Because this whole thing is a waste of time. I’ve did these calls with 3 recruiters and is yet to hear back from someone. Today would be the 4th recruiter that I’ve spoken to. Does this practice annoy you guys just as much as it does us? My dream career is to be a technical recruiter but this whole thing is discouraging.
