Good or Bad?
My referral had interviews w/ (1)
recruiter, (1) SM, then the series of
(3) 1:1's w/(1) MD and (2) SM's.
The recruiter said he will now have
an interview in Jan. w/ the PPMD.
He interviewed for a M role in
consulting for customer marketing.
11 YOFE
He does have a wide skill set and the
recruiter said it was all positive
feedback, just have to find out
where to put him (on the team he
interviewed for or another he is
qualified for).Deloitte

What about a large scale massage board doesn’t pique your interest? Certainly piqued mine.

Mmm massages 💆♂️
Go to companies that have a large R&D spend / invest in a lot of out-there projects. FB prob has some too, you were prob interviewing with the wrong team.
A&D and Advanced Manufacturing industries probable also have more exciting projects that are directly associated with the company’s money makers (but this is really subjective)
I promise that your typical startups don’t do anything much more interesting.
^true. Often you are just giving up the consistency, order and established processes of a bigger firm.
It was a general engineering role. I’m doing more research as I go through the process. Thanks all for the responses
Large scale massages. Sign me up!
Depends. What are you looking for?
The cybersecurity and privacy teams do really cool work, but they won't consider you without hard technical experience
BCG that sounds interesting. Sorry, The work I’ve done as a consultant has been pretty technically challenging and impactful but I’m exhausted from the hours.
A&D, additive manufacturing, drones, space companies, just to name a few
@OP you should be able to find many more roles that align better with you are looking for at FB. There are other teams like Portal, Oculus and Libra you could explore that are still growing. What role did you interview for ?

If it's a general eng role, you go thru Bootcamp where you can match with a team that suits your interest.
Your framing obviously makes the opportunity seem unattractive.
Think bigger:
- FB ads help small businesses get share of voice
- FB shops helps retailers impacted by COVID continue with commerce
- FB groups create community and unites people
- Messenger rooms provides a platform for video calling
Perhaps try a start up with more problems to solve and things to build with each person carrying more responsibility
But also would like to see that large scale massage board (kidding)

Do you do anything more interesting at McK on the whole

There a lot of interesting startups or things in the fintech space that are interesting. But it's hard to beat the comp of companies who try to get you to click ads.
Oculus if the VR space interests you...
