I just interviewed for a position I thought I was well suited for. Everything went well until we discussed working remotely. They said the job must be performed on-site. If their offices were within a 25-mile radius, I’d be happy to commute. However, I’m not going to sell my house, uproot my family and move to another state for a below market salary. I just don’t understand why employers insist on facetime at the office. The pandemic already proved that employees can be productive from home.

I work as a marketing consultant and I love my job. It’s the career for me and I want to advance my career and climb the ladder. What are some of the typical positions that are pursued after a marketing consultant role? What are some pointers that you can give to someone who wants to advance their career? What are some things that I can do now to prepare me for that next role?

I’ve heard mixed results about the ROI of earning an MBA. My near future goal is to move into a Marketing Director (or senior manager) role.

Am I being paid competitively? I have been the Onboarding Sup for my HR dept for over a year now and I’m being paid the state min for salary, which for CA is 62,400.
