ESG is super broad. Can approach it from the finance or corporate side. On the corporate side, look into materiality assessments (eg using SASB framework). On the finance side, maybe looking into ESG related financial instruments (sustainability linked bonds, loans, funds).
In general, look into the Paris Agreement, and the difference between carbon neutral, net zero, carbon negative etc. and the UN Sustainable Development Goals too. I’m not crazy familiar with general ESG (I only do emissions modeling) but those are things you should know. The big 4 do a lot of ESG work, but I’m sure tons of other orgs do too.
I’d recommend considering getting a certification or two (not hard to do for the easier ones) to show competency in this space if you want to find work, thought that’s not required.
Would 100% do the free courses (my own training has been minimal and I’ve been lucky), I imagine they will help a lot in interviews. Feel free to DM though - sounds like you have a good background.
