I just received a first round interview for at GS for a role that seems like internal strategic finance (job description says stuff like ad hoc analysis, construct competitor analysis, etc.) however I applied for and even got a referral for an FO (non-IB) role. I’m kinda bummed they didn’t take me for the latter role but if I get the above role, is internally transferring easy? Is the role even good?

For context, I’m trying to get IB/Strategy consulting roles, with LT a goal being on buyside.
