Yeah, AI ad fraud is a whole other beast to discuss. The big issue being fake AI social media accounts counting as “engagement” with ads produced by AI.
Yall are not well and these posts are proof. Go walk on some grass, please.
Okay Harvey Specter.
TL/DR:
CD sees spec case films for the first time in his life.

There is nothing posted about any work being made for New Blood or that any work is spec. It isn’t just the mayo one. That just led me to multiple portfolios of fake work with zero disclaimers.
You can’t claim it is real in your book. What don’t you get.
Chief
Whoever made these: you made beautiful case studies and you know how to present your ideas. There is no shame in having a disclaimer that it is just spec work. You have a great career ahead of you.

What is the point of this thread without a link
Chief
Not by name. They can correct themselves.
Saying ad fraud is something else than people/students making spec case films though. The way you phrased it sounded like people were claiming something was real while it wasn’t.
Chief
Students can. But they have to say the work is student work somewhere in their portfolio.
No agency can just use random brand logos and celebrities and manufacture praise for themselves without getting sued.
This thread is so confusing. If they’re posting this publicly on LinkedIn, how is linking to it ‘outing’ them?
Chief
Giving them the opportunity here to correct themselves without shining a spotlight on them beyond this post.
Rising Star
Can you just post the work
So I read more of this thread and have now changed my question. My new question is “Why is OP such a gatekeeping KOOK?”
Dude, you are exhausting.
This is what it looks like when the angry mob is actually just one guy with a lantern and pitchfork yelling into the darkness.

Multiple people with great case studies. Perfectly designed and animated. The giveaway is that no one would ever approve these ads.
The celebrities make no sense to be involved. And way out of budget. And none of the press quotes in them are real either.
You can’t even Google these ads. As they don’t exist.
But the case study videos are Cannes worthy.
Chief
I don’t want to link to individuals to shame them. There are multiple people who have entire books filled with fake work claiming it is real and that they got real results. Not true.
Nothing saying it is student work or spec work.
I’m fine with spec work.
Their books claim it is real work.
That is the problem.
The point of this post was solely to say: add a disclaimer. Be honest.
Mayo?
Chief
Or they are presenting it as real work. And it comes off fraudulent.
Weird post.
You should sue them.
Any examples?
Chief
I’m saying that sharing links would put a target on individuals. I do not want people to attack them personally and put them at risk.
My issue is with what seems to be something many people are doing. Fake case studies saying they won praise for their idea and results using celebrities and brands with no disclaimers anywhere that it’s all fake.
There are people in other comments here saying it’s completely ok to not disclose their work is spec and that the praise they received for their idea is something they wrote themselves.
It’s fine to make spec work. It’s not ok to lie and say The NY Times is praising the work you did with Taylor Swift. No one should encourage that.
Based on some other comments here, some people here may be doing it themselves.

TL/DR:
This is just fake Cannes style case studies claiming they had real celebrity endorsements, real press, and real results for brands.
I’m seeing entire portfolios of this stuff from multiple people. All fake. But highly produced.
No disclaimer it is student work or spec work.
Claiming a fake project got real results and press for a brand and you worked with these celebrities is fraudulent.
But if they get work from these… who’s “at fault” really? The makers or the agency who didn’t do their research?
Chief
You can’t use brands in fake ads and claim your idea won praise. It isn’t a half-truth here. Your book is fake.
Just say you made spec work. No shame in that!!! And less liability.
You can always do a project on your own that can become famous without faking it and lying.
Are you sure these were not “Unbranded” marketing? The rules differ from Branded vs Unbranded Pharma communications.
Chief
These are branded with brand logos. Nowhere is it saying it is spec or student work.
I mean if no one can tell, all power to them lol
Chief
No. Not a prank. It’s multiple people having work like this in their portfolios with no disclaimer.
But there are definitely some corrupt award show submissions and judges who push fake work to win awards.
Some people have killer case studies as a skill set.
Spoiler alert: The work is REAL and OP is so far out of the loop he’s unaware.
Or, he realized early on that he’s on about nothing but his ego won’t allow him to stop.
So I’m calling you out. Post a link or go away. I officially don’t believe this “offense” is real
Chief
Ok. You are being foolish. The work is fake. Someone identified one of the pieces I was referring to in the comments. You aren’t really in the loop, I guess.
It is spec work being presented as real work.
No indication on any of the portfolio websites it was for portfolio school or that they are students. They explicitly are not saying it.
That is the issue.
You think you’d be proud to say you made something for D&AD New Blood. Not just present it as real work.
Some people here think that is fine too.
I’m not on about nothing here.
You need to say your work is spec. Not just have case studies saying your fake idea got press and praise.
