I know that more and more companies are moving toward looking for the “structured” interview responses like Meta and Google implemented and I’m wondering if you think that being good at answering things in this way really means you are a better PM, or just better at doing these interviews. People spend months preparing for these, and I am struggling to see the connection between getting better at these interviews and being better at product management. What am I missing?

Alright grill me I don't care. But I matched with a guy on an app and we have great conversations. However, after going on a few dates with him, it's obvious he looks nothing like his pictures. He has grown his hair out a lot and grown king facial hair and it's just not what I was into when we matched? Is it just me or do 90% of the jobs being laid off by big tech sound made up? Many job descriptions with multiple bullet points that all kinda revolve around the same idea. One of my buddies works for a big IT company and literally just sits on meetings all day. No one really contributing to anything other than agreeing to whatever the speaker is saying. Are these kind of jobs finally being exposed? Six figure employees getting paid to sit and bounce ideas off each other?

Help me understand why executives lie and gaslight so often. I’m new to this and don’t feel comfortable doing it.

I work with a junior PM who is not performing. Not my report, we share a mgr, but as a senior PM I lead the product. He can’t finish anything, needs a lot of coaching, I give him 2h/wk but I can’t afford more.
After 2mos I raised it to our mgr who promised to work with him. 2 more mos passed, mgr talked to him only once, no change in perf. I think mgr doesn’t want to deal with the problem. Now they ask if I want to manage JPM. It is going to be a ‘no’ but I want to ask some advice on all this.

A colleague told me today that Google separates Product Manager and Product Owner as two separate roles. I believe that one PM role is preferred in the industry and most modern software companies, especially FAANG companies, only have PMs. Just curious what others have experienced and if I'm correct in my assumption.

Going on 1.5 yoe and still learning how to organize and deliver customer-centric features at a bank. I’m feeling overwhelmed and eternally behind when it comes to scoping intent and managing timelines. In fact, I have not gotten a timeline together yet because I am still determining features required. I am having trouble detecting features required because I do not know customer preferences, and I don’t know customer preferences because I have only industry data. Does PM always few so chaotic?

Please share your best tips/process of building and prioritizing product roadmaps. Any templates or resources will be super helpful too.
