I know this is controversial...

But ruling a candidate out simply because they don't have xyz experience is silly.

Call me a fool, but I think if you give someone a chance, they might surprise you.

Everyone is at LEAST worth a conversation. Ask them why they think they can do the job.

Let them sell themselves to you.

Especially in industries like customer service and sales.

Just because they don't have the requisite experience doesn't mean they won't absolutely KILL it if you give the

It’s not silly. It’s smart. If I need someone who is experienced in Tableau now, I can’t hire someone who doesn’t know Tableau and hope they learn the tech stack on day one. That would be crazy. It’s also impossible to learn Tableau in one day and be productive on day one. I don’t the have time nor the budget to wait for someone to learn on the job.

I got laid off but due to the WARN act, I am still on the payroll for a while. If a background check is done to look at employment history, do they see my official working end date, or the day I am off the payroll?
