I left my position of 18 years after a headhunter I knew had an opportunity of which my background was a perfect match, My resume clearly states accounting/office management.

It’s been 4 months no accounting duties, I am answering phones, opening new cases (it is a law firm), & the senior partner wants me to manage his calendar & take the garbage out.

I’m planning to leave. Should I list this disaster on my resume? How do I describe my reason for leaving if asked in an interview?

Are private companies easier to work at than public companies in accounting? We have such an accelerated close deadline at the publicly traded company I’m at now, I really hate the inflexible tight deadlines and analysis seems to drag on forever after that. We also close AP/AR very early in the month yet that doesn’t stop payments/receipts from happening so we’re constantly adjusting our accruals until the end of month. Do private companies start their close after the month actually ends?
