I recently interviewed for L7 EM at Google and had 4 great interviews and one not so great system design. I submitted external referrals all of which gave great feedback. The recruiter said the next step is team match/interviews and then the HC. Anyone in a similar situation? What was the result? Google

I don't get the point of companies forcing people to work this week if they aren't in an industry that requires it. Nothing productive gets done. It would be way more beneficial to allow employees that extra time to recharge for the new year.
I'd rather quiet busy work than being forced to take time off when I don't want to. Forced Christmas holidays, especially when they're deliberately extended an extra week longer than even the companies clients are taking, are just an excuse to burn through staff's annual leave entitlement to reduce the accrued balances and limit the amount of leave that can be taken during the year when it would "inconvenience" a company that deliberately keeps itself short staffed.
Quiet day and probably quiet week. Just some loose ends to tie up before officially welcoming in a new year. Then we have to actually get to work on all those things we put off.
Nobody is working
Take some training? Work a special project? Or, just enjoy an easier work day or three or four?
Does GSK still do the end of year shutdown between Christmas and New Years? When I worked there several years back as a contractor, they always gave us time off from Christmas til Jan 02 or whatever the following Monday was…
