I make sure birthdays/holidays are celebrated. I ensure they get a signed card and gc, if they are part of the office staff, get their favorite treat (I secretly find out what they like). But when my birthday came around…nothing. They knew it was my birthday as someone spilled the beans. I know they like me. What gives? It’s not like I can ethically give myself a gc, and it would be awkward to ask people to sign a card or bring a treat. Am I wrong to think someone else needs to step in for me?

Does anyone here take their job day by day, or do you have at least a 5 year plan? I used to plan for an MBA or Masters, now I have no interest in the field and I feel lost. Seeing everyone go into new jobs & graduate with their masters recently has me feeling like I’m not accomplishing anything.

Is it bad manners or just a bad idea to go back to a recruiter if they got you a job that wound up being a bad fit?
For context, I don’t think they misled me. The job changed 3 weeks after I got hired, and got stuck in a role that’s just not a good fit. Gave it 6 months of honest effort and I’m ready to start job hunting.

Admins. Midwest region. Tax, audit or overall office admin. Salary range? Highest comp percentage increase you’ve seen in your role? I’ve been in my position 15 years & go above & beyond for anyone in our office. But my salary doesn’t reflect my knowledge, experience or work ethic IMO.

Has anyone else had a mentor (assigned to them by the Company) who seemed to have it out for you? I mean downright sabotage to make you look bad left and right. I didn’t realize it at first. She was fake friendly, but she was discrete too. Some of the executives thought she was amazing, but I had to clean up her work all the time. She wasn’t above me either on the chain of command. I only bring in a little over $2,600 a month. After paying all my expenses, I get to put away $500 a month in savings but don’t have much wiggle room for anything else, including going out money.

I’m very privileged to have a significant inheritance and zero debt of any kind. I really wonder how my peers who have student loans, car payments, and even children manage to pay their bills and live so comfortably. Please share if this is you!

Help,I started a new career n the events industry and I think I have to quit! The person I report to is so disorganized and there are no other managers in the office to direct day to day operations of our department. On day 2 I was asked to go to a job site and perform a 12 hour day without any training, safety equipment or tools. On day 3 I was asked back to site to do general labor! I ended cutting my hand on an exacto knife and there was no first aid! Is this normal?
