Thought this was interesting. Across 160 teams of researchers, just about all failed to make good life outcome predictions on things like GPA, evictions, layoffs, and others. Data followed 4.5k families across 15 years, with 13k features (varied over time). Haven't looked at it directly yet, but will be turning the docs and data inside out... In the meantime, authors claim this as showing the limits of ML. Oh, and it's published in PNAS, so you know there's some big publication energy there.

Real talk…you have zero chance of making up a 3x difference in salary within the same firm. HR is unlikely to support or allow it and no practice lead will be incentivized to do so out of fairness. The only two ways you can make up the delta is leaving the firm or create the conditions where they would lose material client revenue due to your utilization. The later being highly unlikely unless you are some sort of credentialed specialist.
Start job hunting but if you’re also so underpaid, consider just exiting and going back to school or moving abroad for a better work/life balance. 3x gap is major gut punch but you have to get over it and make some big moves if you want to overcome it.
