The only immediate solution I can think of is to back yourself up against a wall so that's all they see.
That’s what I do. Also ensures that no one can walk up behind me as well.
I would use the blur background easier than setting up a screen and comes across very professional and subtle.
Just make sure that the background is plain.
Zoom allows you to blur your background without using a virtual background. Try that.
Contact your CISO or sec ops team. Exposing your background to personal objects could be a security risk for social engineering especially if a meeting link gets leaked or there is malicious insider.
I have an office virtual background in Google meets. Perhaps using something like that would satisfy them. I would also ask why. It could just be whatever you were using they disliked. Hope this helps.
I would say it’s likely due to the flickering and gaps between person and virtual background. I have one that’s northern lights, it minimizes those aspects but overall when it happens it is distracting especially to adhd people but I do appreciate the static backgrounds. I don’t really care if people see my work at home surroundings, but I carefully made my work at home space to minimize my distractions and not look awful on screen should I need to be on the screen. I’m lucky I don’t have to be viewed often, and it’s usually for internal meetings. So I’d use a static image personally if I were in your situation.

Just use the background with company standard picture (usually every organization has one) or simple - blur your background.
But I do agree that your background is your choice and as long as it is work appropriate you should not be directed to take it out. You could put this perspective respectfully
