I seem to do extremely well when I enjoy my job and struggle immensely when I don’t. Anyone experienced this? Makes me feel like a genius some days and a complete idiot on others.

I’m the same. Been partner at 2 firms so far. Find your happy. But those bad days suck.

Inspiring EY1. Did you struggle as a junior?

Same here. I have to like what I'm doing to do well but I find that taking pride in the small things also helps.

isn’t this true of mostly everybody…? Find patterns on what you enjoy and what you don’t. What are the common threads?

Agree but neurotypical people seem to be able to do work they don’t care about and be complacent with it.

Hey y'all, kind of a two part question:
1. I enjoy the people management more than individual contributor stuff. What career paths do you see in our industry for people who are managing support engineering teams?
2. What certifications are valued today? Seems like being a AWS Cloud Practitioner is a good general one, but are there others that stand out?

Anyone else have a need to exercise daily? A lot of people judge me in a negative way and in reality it is because my ADHD brain needs it. 1) the consistency for schedule 2) exercise can help tone down the symptoms before I sit down for the work day 3) it is the only thing I can control to make it look like I am not a mess (disorganization, interrupting) - basically trying to stay in the game at work based on perception of “having it together”. Just wondering if anyone faces the challenges.

Here is my dilemma: I was passed up for manager promo last year and rightfully so a lot of my feedback was definitely correlated to me not properly handing my symptoms causing a good bit of inconsistencies in my performance especially if I lacked interest. This year I’ve crushed it and switched up projects off of ones that I’ve long been on. The few people who “advocate” for me seem to be stuck on things that seem either 1) so unsubstantiated and show that they are too far detached from the …

Hello All - I struggle with time management. I take medication but I have no idea whether a task will take 40 mins or 4 hours. Because of this, I over commit and under deliver. Also, having been on the receiving end of criticism, over time I have developed a perfectionist streak. I won't turn it in if it is good enough. How do you break out of this habit?

Any resources to help the brain structure tasks and make better estimates? Much appreciated, thanks!

Had my 1:1 with my People Lead yesterday to prepare for talent discussions. Said I had a great year - but need to work on being consistent. She said when I’m engaged it’s great but need to keep it going. I’ve mentioned my ADHD previously but I’m sure she doesn’t know all the components of what that means. We’ve had org issues - no clear role descriptions or expectations. Yes I do have a hard time staying engaged (and I’m medicated - Vyvance in the am, dextroamphetamine at noon). Thoughts?

I recently got diagnosed with ADHD. I'm 31 and found this only because b school and post mba consulting job was/is much more challenging than anything I did before. What I'm confused about is that even as a teenager I could read entire books overnight. But the last two years of high school I started selectively zoning out and the problem has become worse since. I just realised it now. My doctor has suggested treating depression (I was also unaware of this) with Wellbutrin first (contd)
