Hey there!
I am a Masters Student majoring in Machine Learning. I am in my first semester and I am kind leaning to explore Data Science as well. Could any Professional Data Scientists help me out on getting started? What skills do I focus on? What kind of projects should I have on my portfolio?
I have tried looking this info out in the internet but its all overwhelming. Hoping to get some honest guidance here!

In my experience… If the staff you’re managing keeps making the same mistake, it’s likely due to poor coaching. It sounds like you’re a great point of contact for them to learn tho 🤣
I was an associate during 100% virtual Covid times. The only reason I made it out and got promoted and rated at the top of my class was because SM took the time and walk through their thought process. Invest upfront and you will get a great return. The people like you and OP feel like your time will be spent fixing problems so instead you don’t invest it up front rather you plan for the re work… people like you are the worst part of public accounting. You bash people and think nobody is as smart as you.
Remember, a mistake out of ignorance is not a personal attack, it might look like it after so many hours reviewing, but it is not. Send comments so they learn, or pick it up and save time (in the short run only)
Oh no! Are you…actually doing part of your job 😟?
Staff from overseas?
It’s funny how all comments against OP are staff. Don’t worry, you’ll understand one day.
Same hourly pay too
I think you misspelled that word, it's spelled "manager" not "maid"
As a manager, you should be helping your staff learn to do things right. Try doing your job properly, so they can do theirs.
Imagine being mad at inexperienced staff making half your salary (or less) for making mistakes 😅 the AUDACITY!
It sounds like you’re in a challenging spot, but your ability to consistently resolve issues shows leadership in action. That said, constantly cleaning up after others can lead to emotional burnout. It’s important to escalate these concerns to leadership and advocate for stronger accountability. Use this as an opportunity to influence processes and mentor team members—leaders often emerge from these tough situations.
