Not at all. You are only human. Starting a new job doesn't change that. People will forget about it in no time. Just focus on your work and prove how great you are. I hope the things in your personal life get better soon.
If you've made a pivot from copywriting to journalism, it sound like you've got a good opportunity to prove yourself. So, do that. Whatever personal stuff you have going on, don't drag it into work, that's not the place for it. If you're making a spectacle of having personal problems at work you won't be doing yourself any favors, so just be aware of that.
I wouldn't stress at all. First of all, I guarantee most people didn't notice. Second of all, the only thing you have control over is how you handle things going forward. Try to take care of the personal stuff to the best of your ability so you can focus and thrive. If you have good releases outside of work, this will be less likely to happen going forward. You've got this!
What do ya do? Life happens no matter what. Just do what you can moving forward to not let it interfere as best you can, and just go from there. We are all humans, and it’s not like I’ve never had some personal stuff going on that was on my mind during work.
No, it is normal. Just doing your best. Everything will be in line.
You have not blown it. Starting a new job is hard, especially with personal stress. Being emotional is human. People will understand. You will settle in and thrive
You’re totally fine. Starting a new job is stressful enough without life stuff piling on. Crying at work does not mean you’ve messed up. You’re human. Give yourself grace, fr. 💛
