Wanted to highlight Prudential Financial’s hiring practices. They rescinded my offer once I attempted to negotiate the salary. The official reason given was that I didn’t “sound excited enough”.
They then admittedly gave the offer to someone who was less qualified. There were other red flags throughout the job offer process that the HR team should overall be ashamed of.

Class in this country is weird and seems to have little correlation with income.
Upper class is the former aristocracy regardless of how much they earn.
Upper middle will never become upper because they don't have a network of family estates, even if they pull in £1m a year.

I’d say if you’re a director (130k + bonus) that life is achievable. So yes, it should be.
It's priorities mate. Last year TC (less pension) was ~£140K. 40% of what's left post-tax goes on school fees. House is modest, cars are modest, holidays are modest - school is one of the best in the country. It can be done - you just can't have it all.
If you make partner, definitely on 500k+

That kind of lifestyle is achievable if you've been gifted £500k-1m to buy the house. 60k a year will go on school fees and other childcare expenses.
The rest of the requirements seem modest.
130k + 50k is not enough. School fees are now 25k for a top day school. If you have more than one child private school for both is unachievable without really serious sacrifices being made.
