So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

This is definitely something I've noticed about younger engineers. There seems to be a sense of defeat when they can't figure out a problem. I find that they come to me a lot more often to get solutions rather than work things out on their own, like we were always drilled to do.

And a perfect opportunity for you to give them a nugget while they still remain in the drivers seat in figuring out the solution (depending on the urgency). It takes time to build that trust in yourself and that muscle
How do you figure it out instead of failing all the time?

You have to champion a process of documentation of service’s in your teams purview. If you had to deal with an incident you didn’t find, write it. On call should be a rotation and a tight knit team would be communication and teaching each other
You are right about that. There are definitely times where it has been sink or swim. Where there is a will, there is a way.

Yes! Only time and seeing the odds in the swim favor would help with the confidence to feel it
