You’re allowed to take PTO. Don’t worry about what he thinks
WTF man! Just take the day off. You've only taken 1 PTO whole year. How is that remotely sustainable?
As for the manager: tell him, don't ask.
It isn’t, which is why I physically feel myself breaking down today.
Send him the first 3 sentences of this post. We are allowed to take PTO almost freely. I’m sorry your boss is an ass but if he really wants to fight you on it tell him to take it up with HR.
Thanks. I value his opinion way too much.
Girl if you don’t use your PTO and gtfo. Tell don’t ask. PTO mean prepare the others
Not sure what this means but I’m liking the sound of it 😎

I just...what? What? No job is worth this nonsense and I can promise you that any manager who thinks and acts this way has issues bigger than you'll be able to solve. Do not let his twisted mindset infect your own.
Take Friday off and then take a full two weeks ASAP. This PTO is part of your compensation package. Are going to volunteer or accept a pay cut? If no, then stop volunteering to accept this compensation cut and take your PTO that you've earned!
Ugh you’re so right. Just because someone is in a position of leadership doesn’t mean they are a good leader
First of all, you should never feel bad about taking hard-earned PTO. Honestly the fact that you just used your first day all year is pretty bad.
Tell your boss exactly what you just said, and inform him that you are taking another day off. Don't ask for permission, because you're an adult and can handle your own work and decide when to take a day off. You can assuage any concerns he may have by explaining your light schedule and how you're making sure it won't be an issue that you're out on short notice.
I’m just anticipating some snide remark from him 😞 I’ve honestly busted my a** all year and my mental and physical health is suffering
“Hey Boss. I’m taking tomorrow off.”
Do you *know* that he’ll think you’re lazy, or do you *think* he’s going to perceive you as lazy? The other reality is that all of us are dispensable in the long run... so do right by you. Health > anyone’s perceived perception of you
Uh, it’s the Friday before a holiday weekend. Probably half if corporate is not really working tomorrow.
