I truly believe that putting other companies and “competitors“ down is a shot in the foot. When you put yourself on a such a pedestal, it is embarrassing for the employer to be the one to take the heat. Especially when they are getting paid min wage and the owner is getting 200% profit. It makes you want to puke. So sad. Takes money to make money.

I’m beyond irritated by one of my coworkers. Just so disorganized, doesn’t show up to meetings, doesn’t reply to emails, constantly have to chase him, miss deadlines because of him. Management knows but does nothing about it. He really is a nice guy so it’s hard to hate him but I’m gonna lose it sooner or later. How do you best leverage a job offer when you don’t want to leave? In the running for a VP job (higher level than now) that pays $70k higher than what I currently make. I’m currently in a lease admin type role, in commercial real estate. I make a base salary of $50.5K with about $9k in bonuses. I’ve continuously received 7-10% raises over the last 3 years. I anticipate getting a promotion this year and would like to get closer to $60k for my base salary. I’m the only person in my role at the company and have been a key person in developing our team as we look to expand. Is this unreasonable? Is there a normal increase given with promotions? My current salary is under market average for my position but based off my coworkers’ negative experiences with asking for raises/promotions, I’m not really sure how to go about starting the conversation with my manager.
