I'm working at a startup where I feel like I've spent as much time trying to deal with product issues vs working on roadmap items. I get this is bound to happen in a start up but is this common? I'm not sure what to do. It seems like no one really thought about the architecture or ux as much as they should have in my opinion. I need some advice.

Hi, I’m trying to figure out my long-term career path. I’ve worked in IA for most of my career. I recently got my CPA, and re-entered the work force after a 13 year break. Got back in as a Sr IA. Can someone give me an overview of what Internal Audit does? Received an offer for IA and currently work in External Audit. Want to know the differences between the two.

Do you see substantial gaps between internal auditing outcomes on one side, and expectations of stakeholders on another side?

So I’m probably thinking too much. But I’m looking to leave public accounting and have an opportunity with internal audit. I want to make sure where I go I have good opportunities to advance and if needed be marketable to other companies. Do you think internal audit makes you more or less marketable to other opportunities in the future?

What sampling methodology do you use and what’s the source? I’m part of a new internal audit department for a recent ipo company and we need to create a sampling methodology from scratch

How do people in the IA profession motivate themselves? Personally, I love the fact that we are exposed to different business processes (rather than a specific number or subject matter), also I actually like the fact we are a bit more creative than the typical “in our less than humble opinion we think this number is not too incorrect” approach adopted by our external counterparts.

Is anyone hiring an internal audit manager with 7 YOE in industry they can refer me to? In public now. business process and IT Audit experience mostly in SOX but also operational audits, Department reviews, and some DRP work in every industry except media/entertainment and government.

What’s the hierarchy in internal audit? It looks like director requires only about 10 years of experience. What’s after that? Do people just stay at that level for a while?
