Working in government this is especially true. At my gov job I would sometimes look for areas of potentially relevant law to learn and get a basic outline of it
You will always research an issue before making a decision—even if you’ve researched that issue a million times in the past. You will become more efficient in arriving at your conclusion, however.
Love the positive spin on it. Bc I normally detest that shit. I’m solo and have quiet a few clients who have paid me just to research an area of law and I find I don’t enjoy it (borderline detest it)…
I blame my imposter syndrome; I feel like bc it’s something I don’t know (unfamiliar), I’m afraid of it. And bc I’m afraid of it, I have a negative outlook on it and automatically don’t/won’t enjoy it.
Instead of tackling it with intrigue and curiosity (especially when I’m getting paid to do it!!!) ….so, why not ?
Note to self: Humble yourself, counsel. This job is forever one of learning, exploring, researching, UNKNOWNS.
Definitely understand the feeling you're describing. It's like, "should I already know this??"
