Many years ago I didn’t hit it off with hiring manager. Just huger personality conflict during the interview. Could tell we weren’t going to get a long so I just said l,”this isn’t going to work out is it.” He laughed and said we would probably kill each other. Shook hands and I left.
Was interviewing for an internal position back when I worked at a big corporate job. First round was a phone interview and I emailed them “hey, I’m literally in the office one floor below you. Like right underneath their office”. They told me that they’d prefer to conduct the interview via phone. I made the 2nd round (where they did allow me to walk upstairs) but I only showed up to tell them that I was no longer interested in the position.
It might have been a requirement to not bias the recruiting to the internal candidate if there were external candidates. But probably not.
I was in a capital one interview. Interviewer was late, wearing a stained tshirt, very condescending during the case… I said “I don’t feel like this is working for me, I’ll give you a couple minutes back to your day and end this early. Thanks for your time” and then left. Till this day, I am SO glad I did that. Never regretted it and got a way better job days later.
Who cares. It’s all practice anyways.
In your head you can do this, but please don’t do it. You will spend way too much time picking up the pieces, and you never know how word gets around. If you have an issue with 1 person, chances are it is a personality trait and most normal people have the same issue. Grin and bear it. You also don’t know if they are just trying to see how you react.
Right out of school I was interviewing at some insurance company and didn’t realize it was a group interview. There were about 10 of us. Recruiter gave a 10 min presentation and 10 seconds in I knew I didn’t want this. After he handed out a packet for us to fill out and left the room. I followed him out and went home. Didn’t say a thing.
Did that at a couple of company presentations during my MBA. Like can you at least send people whose body languages don’t scream misery and hatred of life?
