Ice before menopur, it burns so badly. I wish someone had warned me. I’m usually good with injections but that one gets me.
Omg thanks for the tip
Don’t be scared! So many helpful tips and tricks online but just know you aren’t alone. Depending on the meds, some are better to pull skin or pinch. Regardless, take your time, breathe, and be decisive when injecting. If you go slow when inserting, it’s more uncomfortable.
Thank you ❤️
Get a friend to do it and pay them back with wine
Thank you, I will def do that!
I just finished my first retrieval, so here are a lot of thoughts that I hope help! I had a friend be there for the first ones just in case I couldn’t do it, but I ended up making myself do it because I knew I’d have to depend on myself for most of them. It’s honestly not that bad once you finally do it! Ice before and after. Play the tutorial videos on .75 speed. It’s a little overwhelming but it’s over quickly and then you can go back to watching TV or relaxing on the couch! Breathe out as you inject. Put gauze over the injection site while pulling the needle out so it doesn’t pull on your skin. Menopur hurts a little but the stinging stops pretty quickly, so it wasn’t as bad as I had built it up to be
Hi! I did it myself as a future single mom by choice. Feel free to pm me! It was so nerve wrecking first day but I promise soon you’ll be an absolute boss at it!!!!
I cried too! It is a LOT!! So overwhelming. Ice packs for gonal and menour helped. Menopur can sting a little so it really helps with that. For PIO if you do injection a heat pad. In a few days I can’t wait to hear how well you’re doing!! Keep us posted and let me know if you have any questions
Hi! First off, you've got this! 💪 I remember feeling the same way when I started my injections during COVID—I had to rely on videos to learn how to do everything. I was on Gonal 375 IU and Menopur 75 IU (1 powder vial) and, like you, had some initial confusion. My Gonal came in both 300 and 900 IU pens, and I wasn’t sure which one to use that first night. I had to reach out to my nurse for clarification, and she reassured me that either pen could be used. That was such a relief! Thankfully, my husband was there for both moral support and to help me through the process.
And yes, I totally get it—I would have much rather opened a box of pills instead of a box full of needles! But just take it one step at a time, and don’t hesitate to reach out for support. You’re stronger than you think! 💕
Tip: there are “How to inject…” videos on YouTube, the pharmacy’s website or manufacturers website. Stick to your clinics specific instructions about dosage and where to inject.
Good luck, I just did my egg retrieval for the first time last week so I can understand what you are going through. For Menopur, keep it aside after mixing for 20 mins and then inject.
For menopur after the mixing my doctor told me to keep it aside for a while (20mins). The process was good. Just got my embryo result. Got 5 embryos out the retrieval. Would be going for PGT-a testing for it now.
I had my nurse friends and family come the first few days to do injections or oversee the injections. Husband had to do the rest because I am not comfortable with needles. By day 4 he had it under control. I know it’s intimidating and confusing but you get the hang of it after the first few days. Menopur burns the most upon injecting FYI but not the worst pain of my life. You’ll be okay.
