100% take the role. There’s no space to negotiate if you’ve been getting underpaid.
I’ve never heard of this kind of situation. Sounds like you’re getting paid way below market for your current role? If you want to stay at your current spot, I’d just let your manager know that you received an offer for 80% more and would really like to stay but want to see if they can match the offer.
If you do that you unwittingly put a huge target on your back to get let go in short order… Id say take the money and run
Take the offer. Your current employment is paying you way below the salary level for the position. Move on and take the other job
This sounds like a no brainer to me! Sound like open time to work on other projects
Is there chances for advancement? If they are offering you that much more for a lesser position, what might they be offering for a more advanced position in the future? Might be worth getting your foot in the door. Have you research anything about the company? Hiring practices, higher positions, longevity of employees? Something to think about.
Depends on your focus... I have accepted jobs just because of the pay to save up a bit to help me network to a job that would be more of my style. So, if you like the money, why not? But, if you can't live with yourself doing that, then tell your employer and ask them how much you want to stay, but the pay needs to change based on market and numbers..

If you are being undervalued by 80% of your current salary, it's time to move on, and There is no reality where a company will almost double someone's salary to keep them in the same role, so this will resolve itself the same way should you choose to try and negotiate.
Accept the offer it's like repeating classes you already aced, so it should be easy money, but if you want to stay at your current more Senior role and get paid more than the offer you just got that pays 80% more than you're currently making getting them to match the new offer or top it seems unlikely, so I dont have a great answer for you unless you just tell your current employer what the story is and straight up how much more money you would need after explaining that you want to stay put as you're proud to be at your current Senior level at your current role.
That absolutely makes no sense unless you're sidestepping industries. People saying you're being underpaid, but the I reckon the offer is an empty offer.
Is it a verbal offer? Is it written in a contract waiting to be signed? I reckon if you accept, quit your current role and get left in the lurch when it comes time to sign.
Unless you're playing professional sport, no one offers an 80% pay rise to do a lower tier role.
It’s a better paying industry, that’s a fact. I didn’t expect that it’d be this big of a difference
I would probably take the role. How long do you think it will take you to move up the ladder with the new company or start working on "more qualified" work?
I would be really surprised if your current employer would match or even come close to that 80% pay raise.
