levels.fyi if they ask u about salary expectations, just ask them what budget is for role. Don't say first number unless it's well researched and on higher end. Also prepare for your interviews using starr format and having examples ready. Also brush up on leetcode and system design questions I assume for a tech role. Good luck. They'll pay you 4x what you make now
Yup, looking at this site, TC is about 365-400. The base is only $200k. Thats what I thought. $800k+ is for product managers.

There’s a hiring freeze and they’re doing layoffs. Don’t do it
Limited roles will still hire. Senior leadership roles are still hiring per usual
Also boost your application with a referral. Even if you've been approached, someone can still refer. It adds credibility to your candidacy overall

Good luck with the interview!

Ask the recruiter about stability for this role and reporting structure.
Some jobs may be unfrozen and an AI/ML director seems like the type they’d exclude from the freeze. Even if they don’t unfreeze that role, leadership was also clear about not stopping interviews so that we’d be ready to go as soon as the freeze is over. I’d go for it.
TC probably $800k-$1m+, depending on what kind of role specially. Base salary probably in the $300k range + 30% target bonus. The rest is from initial RSU grant (vests at 25%/year over 4 years).
The layoffs bit isn’t true. We’re reducing HC through the hiring freeze and by attrition rather than mass layoffs. There are some small layoffs here and there but nothing out of the ordinary.
That’s $350k base salary. Add 30% target bonus for D1 plus several thousand RSU shares in your initial grant.
Also, Zuck specifically said most of the reduction will be from not backfilling. Some teams might reduce HC with some small layoffs too, but that already happens. The reporting on the Q&As usually only get the gist right and then the details wrong.
The hiring freeze is for SWEs and Data Eng roles. Managerial roles are still being recruited for. I’d suggest you to bring this topic with the HM so that they can explain what they are doing to overcome this perception in general.
