I work at the weirdest place ever and I want to check in with myself. What would you say the role of an Account Director vs Group Account Director and Executive Group Account Director look like? I feel like I am being watered down to a senior account manager with the GAD acting more as the AD and the EGAD acting more as an AD or GCD. It’s wild. Maybe my previous experiences have just been different…anyway…checking in….

For what it’s worth, this is the first time I’ve ever heard of the role “Executive Group Account Director”. That sounds like thin-slicing roles to advance folks for retention purposes while paying in between the common salary bands to save money. Generally sus.

They’re called micromanagers. They’re a real drag. In my experience they tend to be stuck in their ways because they manage people emotionally from a place of fear and mistrust. Whenever I’ve landed under one I’ve ultimately just moved onto something else where I can have some autonomy in my role and the opportunity for critical thinking and growth, instead of always trying to guess what’s in my manager’s head.

Getting married in September, have a vax only policy for guests. My fiancé’s sister is bringing her unvaccinated spouse to the hotel where all the wedding festivities are being held b/c she is too scared to fly on an airplane without him. I find this incredibly uncomfortable and selfish given it will put me and my fiancé in an uncomfortable position (and it will also put my elderly parents and other vulnerable fam members at risk). Any ideas as to what (if anything) to do?

Does anyone use Imagine Math? We are piloting it right now, but I would love to hear your thoughts about it.

Anybody have a different word to use for ‘quiz?’ The kids can do the HW with me/on their own- but as soon as you pass out a quiz- everyone freezes. 🙄 I get test anxiety, seriously.

The world is on fire and there’s so much to be sad about but I’m happy and wish some of this contentment for everyone else. Happy Sunday.

I have recently given interview at Microsoft.
HR provided the feedback as I am not rejected bit not fit for the role so they have put me in talent plus pool. What should I expect next and does this mean that I may get the offer ?

Hi guys, I got an offer from x and i discussed that with my current. At 1st current said they can only give 30% increment. I said I can't stay with this cause i got 70% and expect at least 50%(as the 70% included VP and the current org don't have vp, they have bonus). Then they said they can do max 45%. I really wanted to stay here so I said okay to current. Then now hr called me and said they are matching the offer(no vp). What should I make out of it? What made them change their mind?

I work for a small agency and manage our internal marketing acct. We had very few processes in place when I started. I’ve since created, implemented, and trained our dept. on project mgmt for clients and am trying to convince the owner to apply those principles to our internal jobs. They are resistant because they just want the work to be done and don’t “want to keep spending money on internal jobs”. I’m confused because we’re doing the work either way and “spending” in labor/resources.

Hi everyone,

I'm going for a role for Account Director and have gone through the interviews with the head of accounts, BD as well as the ECD's. I received the following email at the end of the day:

"You are one of two candidates in the final round.

One thing we haven’t spoken about are your salary expectations. Could you have a think and let me know early next week as well as your employment status (residency permit)."

What would be the best way to answer this response? Appreciate the help

Right so here’s a bit of a dilemma I work to a much higher standard at home and it’s this high standard that means I’m in line for a promotion. I’ve grown so much and I feel really strong in my role I’m also busier than ever. The problem is we’re going back into the office and I don’t want to go in if it’s just going to be senior management in asking me to get them lunches for client meetings or fetch a glass of water and cutlery for meeting rooms. Definitely not ready to go back to that….
