I work for a mid-sized law firm outside of NYC . I've been with my current firm for over 6 years and earn in the $150k range. the largest raise I've received was $7,500, and the largest bonus was $5,000. A former employer approached me about returning, and they are willing to pay me significantly more. I have some underlying health conditions, and my current firm provides both short-term and long-term disability coverage. The prospective employer does not offer those benefits. What do I do?

Can you buy your own STD/LTD policy?

Agreed

If the new employer pays more, can you use a % of the extra salary to buy your own benefits and coverage?

So, your asking if you should allow your current firm to control your healthcare? Not sure that is a good idea but maybe it will work out for you. Good luck.

I currently work as an APM at a FAANG company but recently received an offer to join an MBB. I’m very excited about the role but didn’t realize I’d need to take a pay cut when I applied (~100k base + ~20k bonus + ~60k equity vs. 90k base + 10-20k bonus). Considering that I currently work 40-60 hours/week, I’ll be making significantly less per hour at the MBB. I’m very interested in the opportunity but also don’t want to make a poor financial decision early in my career. Thank you for your time!

Hi all
I have an offer with a company and joining is 27th of Jun. I got offer from JP Morgan on 20th and they have given joining 4th of July. I am planning to join in JP Morgan. If left my previous offer, i will have only JP Morgan. Will I have any risk to keep JP Morgan offer alone? Once we get offer from JP Morgan, is ther any chance of cancel the offer? Please guide me JPMorgan Chase

Am I the only one who gets offers from clients with crazy unrealistic expectations about how fast a page can grow? Like no, sorry, I can’t get you 100,000 new TikTok followers within a month.

How do find a recruiter in the legal field? Have been looking for a job for a year now and trying to transition into another practice area. Applied to more than 20 jobs and still no offers. I feel like I might need some help.
Also, I have no idea how these arrangements work. Do you pay the recruiter to look for the jobs or do you pay them when you get the job? Or does the employer pay them?

I interviewed at a law firm and had my final round last Friday. The Tuesday afterward, I got a call from the recruiter saying the firm won’t have a decision for another week.
