Nobody is born a leader. To say this is like agreeing with a monarchy government system. Leaders are taught throughout their life, personal and professional. Elon was born with a silver spoon and was able to purchase his way in. Even still if you look at his leadership style he works his teamsc like Hebrew slaves. This isn't sustainable and the reason why turnover is so high. Another thing leaders should think about is how to make their subordinates personal life a little easier. A happy employee will do a whole lot more than one that's miserable.
lol Elon musk is were he is today because he grew up extremely wealthy and he dad gave him a bunch of money to get off the ground. Then he purchased businesses and slapped his name on them to himself look successful. While I ageee hard and determination is needed to be successful, in todays world unless you are already wealthy, you need to be likable enough to grow your career
I would be in my 75th business venture if I had a safety net.
Tell me you are a white dude without telling me you are a white dude
Holding Elon up as a model is just bad thinking. He would have been better off if he'd gone the way of Howard Hughes and become a silent recluse. People would still think Elon is a genius. Whatever has broken him, his current state of expressing inane opinions all day long has confirmed that he's no great thinker.
I agree with the likeability but not sure i agree with the born to lead thing. Luck and context plays a major role. Elon leads because he has the money.
Elon Musk, like Zuckerberg and Jobs, are anomalies. They are not models for the rest of us to follow
Most of what passes for the kind of “leadership” you’re talking about is sociopathy. It’s having people who are unable to see human beings as anything more than interchangeable cogs they can use to get what they want. Real leadership inspires people to give their best, motivates them when times are hard, and creates loyalty and esprit de corps. As our economy becomes more and more of a zero sum game where only a few at the top receive real rewards (and most don’t even have economic security) American business has largely abandoned cultivating real leadership that inspires people in its organizations. It’s one of the things that is leading to our downfall.
