This is why they call us snowflakes...
Please tell me you're joking.
The bigger question is how that person considered a musician at all
Why can't men like the shape of us and our brains?! Must they only just like our brains?! 👸🏽 here and I'm fine with a man appreciating the physical attributes I've been blessed with as well as my intellect.
You're body is a wonderland
Strat 2, how the hell is he not a musician? He may it be your cup of tea, but that doesn't mean he lacks talent or musical ability.
Cuz we're human. No matter how enlightened the era we are still base creatures who enjoy sex and the human form and the frank discussion/celebration of each. Especially if you put a catchy beat under it. There have always been and will always be songs like shape of you.
I was on coffee guy post defending him. The reason his was not an objectification case is that he was attracted to a woman who happens to work where he does and hence that's where he gets to see her. It's actually not work related at all and hence not a women's rights at work issue. If a woman at work was say, selected to present something to client because she's a hot one, or say, was given a receptionist job and told to wear low cut shirts and shorts skirts, that's an objectification that removes your value as a person and professional and only focuses on body/physical appearance attributes at the work place.
Songs about being horny...are just that:)
*Your
I 💕that song and the video
These are the same women who saw nothing wrong with that awkward puppy love no eye contact post
So funny that @Strat 2 and I disagree on almost everything :)
@OP - thanks at least for asking. 👩 here.
Again, humans are complex. We can hold contrary opinions on a topic. Sometimes it's the context that makes a difference. Sometimes it's the expression of the sentiment. Objectifying in the workplace, causing emotional harm or judgement is one thing, enjoying a tune about physical attraction is another. You have to know the line for yourself. I, as a woman that works with a group that fights against street harassment & sexual violence , have no issue with this song and others like it . Have you read the lyrics? It's pretty tame. If it were more crass folks might not like it so much.
Also @Razorfish in that other post about objectifying women in the workplace there was only ONE person that had an issue with the specific post
Ahh @Strategist1 I did not realize it was one person, she was very vocally offended. But honestly as a man I am doing my best to put myself in woman's shoes 👠 (haha) and understand the nuances.
So what if coffee guy had his headphones on singing those lyrics as attractive girl walked by? Because ES is injecting that line into culture. #Curious
@OP the above pretty much nailed but yes, I think several of us ladies tried to defend coffee guy because his little awkward mishap was human, normal, not objectification, and perhaps even charming.
If coffee guy was singing those lyrics? I mean it depends. Like if he was singing them TO the girl that'd seem aggressive and weird in my personal opinion lol but just casually singing them while she happens to walk by wouldn't bother me.
Dammit now that song is in my head, sh!t. I personally think it is stupid and disrespectful but everyone has a right to their own opinion. I don't often like what is popular so that is consistent. Sounds like one lick on repeat. Damn music industry and their Vanilla autotune bullshit!
The song is just COOL. Makes me want to 💃🏻
