Do it. Take care of yourself.
Nothing is worth your mental health. If your manager doesn't understand this, I think it's time for you to find a new employer.
Or just a new project
If you’re burnt out, literally tell your manager I’m not doing well personally and need to take a few days time. You don’t need to provide specifics, unless you want to and have a good relationship.
You’ll be okay. Prioritize yourself. I hope you feel a bit better after you do, too!
If you don’t want your M to know you are burned out, just say you have covid with really bad headache
Just pretend you're working and day drink
I take regular day-offs (sometimes just 1 or 2 days) in a week and I plan it a few months in advance. A tip for future; you can always take a 1-2 day break on short notice specially if nothing is breaking. I’ll recommend you plan your holidays in advance and spread out the leftover PTO days so that you get some rest time to time.
Just set up some time with them, say you're feeling a need to take a few days off to support your wellness and productivity, and ask them to help you identify a time in the next two weeks with minimal operational impact. Good luck!
FYI, I did this exact thing last month. There was no issue at all.
Please take a few days. Please take care of yourself.
Definitely take the time off!
