Cannes doesn’t pretend to be a non-profit. It’s a huge money vacuum, making over 102 million British pounds in revenue in 2023. We’re all lemmings for entering.
We should all agree to just enter proper industry non-profit shows that give back like D&AD and One Show etc.
Plus the only ones that sort of keep the standards are the D&AD. I'd rather get a pencil than a lion.
They are rigged. Big networks get all the CDs together across different offices and show them what's being entered. "Vote for this work" is the message.
If WhatsApp was blocked one square mile around the Palais, you could cut jury rigging in half. Those groups are insane.
They could just use Signal. I hear it’s much more secure.
Cannes, Warc, and Effie’s literally all merged under Asencial
This is a weird rant. The One Club and D&AD are nonprofits. Most of their work outside awards shows is student competitions and education.
Absolutely the big networks do everything to advantage themselves. Indies are at a severe disadvantage at the shows. And that’s before you factor in the massive funding a big network will throw at production, case film production and entry fees for a good idea.
I for one, applaud the Cannes people. Imagine, just sitting back and collecting money for doing nothing. And anytime you need a new yacht or an island in the Bahamas, just add a few new categories. Money printing machine.

I think you posted this in multiple bowls
Do you understand what a non-profit means? It just means you can’t offer stock, dividends or have public shareholders. Has nothing to do with pro bono. A lot of private companies have non profit status.
News alert: everything is rigged.
