The places I didn't give two weeks notice to were not bridges that were either (i) worth keeping or (ii) had already been burnt.

More so early in my career. You know FB titles don't actually mean anything?

Always fun to go out with a bang. If I found out a potential candidate went out that way, I'd be more inclined to hire them cause it shows they have cajones
I gave one week notice Monday, he should be glad that was given. Came back Tuesday and packed my desk. Said yell at me and I’m gone, I’m now training my replacement whom I started without boss man knowing training 2 weeks ago
Quit a job with no notice. Sent them an email and logged off before anyone logged on. Hated that place. Don’t regret it besides my responsibilities that got piled onto others
I left my last job with just a week notice but had detailed notes on whatever I was working on at the time. Unfortunately the new job didn't work out and my previous position was still available. I tried to go back but was told "due to the way you left, you are not eligible for rehire". If you ever even think about going back to a company you left, a two week notice would be the way to go otherwise, who cares? Companies want the two week notices but they sure would not give you one if they were going to lay you off or fire you.
Would they give you 2 weeks?
Never
Unless you are just a nameless agent in a call center or something, give the two weeks. Never know if/when you might want or need to come back. A former employee of mine was a heck of a salesman and we would welcome him back when things improve again…if he had given the 2 weeks notice.
Upper management did not like that at all so he’s basically black balled.
In this world - there is no bridge ! Do what is best for u !
One time I gave just 3 days notice. It was a career change so even if they got pissed at me I knew I would never go back to that industry. Bottom line do what you feel is best for your situation and their feelings come in second.
As you progress in your career, many of your opportunities will come from former colleagues. What do you want them to remember about you?
It won’t follow you to a new role outside that company even if people talk. It’s not that big of a topic. Especially if the environment was to blame.
If you do decide to go back to that company later because they have a higher position with higher pay. You will not even get an interview. If you are fired from the company for whatever reason or do not give a two week notice to the company you will be placed on the "do not hire list" and cannot apply to jobs at any of the company's locations indefinitely.
Okay
I would only do it if you know you won’t work for that company again.

One time I had to because of a medical issue. Yes I regret it. Only because it was a huge company with good benefits and I could’ve probably found a way around it.
I think this is an individual decision. Pay attention to how your employer treats employees that are leaving. I worked for an employer that had to do layoffs, but they gave several months, severance and tons of resources to the departing employees. And employer like that, I would give the courtesy of notice because I know in an alternate situation they would also take care of me. I’ve also worked for an employer that did layoff that only paid people a couple extra days and whatever accrued time they were required to pay by law no resources, except for also what was required by law I would be less inclined to give an employer like like that notice
That said, you also may have an obligation to your peers A lot of times when people leave without notice, it’s not the company or the management that suffers but the coworkers And even if they’re not people you care about there might be people that you might have to work with or four in another organization at another time.
You have to do what works best for you in the long run not just a short run. But there are definitely highly toxic situations in which notice would not be warranted and the people around you would see that and understand
Who’s gonna even remember ?
Oh okay you’re a hiring manager and that’s your job, makes sense
Karma is my boyfriend, so…
I once gave two days notice because I got unlimited PTO. I was starting a new position two days after I got back from a ten day trip, but suspected my company would’ve cut me early if I told them before I left so they wouldn’t have had to pay me for my vacation. No regrets and it hasn’t affected me negatively.
Pro
Would've taken at least a month long vacation with unlimited pto while starting the new gig. Collecting 2 paychecks is the way to go
I once gave 1 days notice because I’d gotten into grad school and needed to be in another city on a given day. I was in sales at the time and my employer had a quirky quarter system that was a month behind the typical calendar. Of course bonuses were to be paid at the end of the quarter, which was within days of start of my program. I was due a large 5 fig bonus, and had seen the company walk colleagues out the day they’d given 2 weeks notice, then deny them their bonuses because they weren’t on staff at the end of the quarter. They’d already found a way to screw me out of my Q1 4 fig bonus by following the letter of the law even though I was verbally told they wouldn’t and that I would get what I brought in for the company, so I knew they’d screw me over for 5x that amount.
The first day of Q3 and the day before I left town, I walked in, told them I had a family emergency that needed my undivided attention, that I knew I was out of PTO and could I have unpaid leave (knowing that wasn’t a thing at that firm). They said no, I said well unfortunately I have to resign. I gave my manager a paper saying they should send my bonus in the amount of $XX,XXX to Y address on Z date and had him sign it, turned in my gear and left. Got the check 6 weeks later. Absolutely no regrets as they’d already shown me who they were.
I worked for a company that experienced a high turnover rate. I would assume that many of my former colleagues didn't give a 2 weeks notice. It was a toxic environment with a high turnover in the sales department. My guess is that some of my former sales colleagues were laid off and other's left for a better opportunity. I am the older worker and would have left if I could have found another role. I was very unhappy on a daily basis and eventually resigned. I relocated to another state where I am currently living.
If you had a good relationship with the manager you left. They’ll mark you as re-hirable. If you didn’t- they won’t. A lot of people leave the bank and come back. Honestly I’ve seen it for 10+ years. Half leave on bad notes and can’t get a job back. I still see people reach out after 5+ years and the answer is still NOPE.
I got rehire as true despite misfit , and I might not get job back if I ever go , as he may have written in notes as misfit ! It’s subjective I mean even if u get rehireability as yes .
