I have applied to several positions up Google. I have not heard anything back at all. No matter if I customize my résumé to the job description I still don’t hear anything back. I am wondering as to why Google ghost people instead of just telling them that they didn’t get the job? Do people on Google believe it is appropriate for the recruiters just a ghost people especially if they feel they don’t match the job?

Got messaged by a C3 . ai recruiter. Read that wlb is bad and that the interview process is absurdly long, but the Glassdoor reviews are 4.2 and can't find actual hours worked posted by anyone. How's the culture really? I'd be aiming for DS consulting, something more functional but with DS/ML concepts as my differentiator.

Terminate the call, ghost the recruiter, tell my network
Doesn’t zoom say you’re being recorded when you join? Plus the red record button displays top left. I interviewed and the recruiter set it up so all interviews were recorded. The HR (not recruiter) who I interviewed with also commented on it being weird.
Just ask to double confirm it. And if so tell the interviewer you don’t think there was any info prior to call about recording it. And then you can terminate the call and complain their HR dept. and compliance. Nothing wrong in double checking it.

If they didn't tell me what they were doing, I'd assume the corporate culture was horrible and would not want to work there. If they did tell me, I'd want a specific explanation - "Bob, who's on the hiring team, can't sit in on this because he's got a conflict, so we're taping it so we can can show it to him and he can weigh in." I don't like the idea of someone just taping me because they can. It's a job interview... not an audition for film and television.
Even if they can't make the meeting - if they can't make time to interview me then I don't think the firm values its employees enough for me to want to work there
It’s not a good look but NY is a one party consent rule so technically they’re allowed
OP asked in the NYC column so I referred to NY law. You’re right that it’s state specific and potentially illegal depending on the specific facts, but less right that “most states are 2 party”. Most states (roughly 38) follow the 1 party consent rule.
Very negative signaling about the firm, its leadership, and its values. Probably an indicator that my employment wouldn’t last long there.
As for how I’d react: I’d stick around if i was desperate or underqualified.
If I had other options or already happily employed, I’d tell them to fuck right off.
Hopefully OP isn’t the culprit! Hah
Who would treat a Founder, CEO this way 😂😂
Think it might be the Founder, CEO treating others this way... 🤔
I don’t know why you are all so triggered about this - isn’t being on camera 24/7 nowadays just part of life?
What about if it says ‘recording’ in the top corner of zoom? Who cares? And arguably if you’re not bringing your A game to a job interview, why bother?
I probably would just realize they’re trying to have it for reference and not care. In the world of social media and cancel culture, you should operate as if everything you say is recorded anyway.
