I’m 26 weeks pregnant and trying to figure out my leave. I live in NJ and work at PwC, any fishes know the policy for NJ and PwC? The leave center has not been much help and I want to plan NOW not like 60 days before. I was told NJ gets two weeks before due date and PwC gives you two weeks as well.

6-12 months
I was very happy with my 12 months. I had the option to extend it to 18 months but that felt a bit too long.
6 months minimum, especially if you’re exclusively breastfeeding. After 6M, pumping at work is much more manageable. When I went back to work, I was needing to pump 3X/day and that was overwhelming.
Six months minimum. Ideally 12. After six months the baby is more hardy and things are more stable so it’s easier to leave them in the care of someone else. But they are just starting solids and naps are still frequent. By 12 months things are much more stable.
I think 12 months would be ideal
I’m currently on maternity leave (that is now extended as I got laid off), I’m 6.5m in and only now feeling somewhat ready and excited to get back to work. He’s also getting a lot more fun to be around so I can see how having a bit longer would be nice. I would say 6m if balancing career and recovery etc. better chance of their sleep improving by then (though not necessarily sleeping through the night)
Yes! But I’m now based in the U.K. so I got basically 8 more months paid after kicking up a fuss so I’ll have a years paid maternity leave basically so I’m not complaining!

I went back at 9 months (UK) and was ready to go back.
6 months was perfect for me, but timing of my return mattered, too. Both times I was out for the last 6 months of our performance cycle, so was able to front load my work; and then came back at the start of a new year which eased pressure (in my experience) to come back with everything figured out.
6 months with a more flexible than usual schedule for the next 2 months at least
7/8 month sleep regression was hell for several weeks—all while working with very little sleep—and I hear the same from several moms. 9 months minimum, 12 months ideally
I had 12mo. 6 months minimum to recover, establish breastfeeding and feel stable in your routine. Months 6-12 to enjoy many new milestones like eating, crawling, playing, being actually interested in the world etc. Back to work at month 12 once baby becomes an insatiable sensory-seeking monster and a lovely calm and quiet desk starts looking good ;)
I think it's more important to time around business and promotion cycles (so you don't come back straight into an up or out promo window or something). In consulting pre-partner level (or before having own client relationships) it makes little difference being out for 6 vs 12mo. It's not like someone is going to steal your team from under you.
