I’ll be graduating with my masters in Healthcare Administration in December! I’m currently working as Medical Laboratory Scientist, have been for 10 years. I’m soooo ready to get out the lab. However I’m interested in some sort of leadership role related to quality assurance or infection prevention. I have no clue where to start looking for jobs. I have no desire to work at my current hospital (many reasons) plus no open positions yet. Any suggestions where I’m supposed to look for employment?

You won’t be able to get a leadership role immediately just because you have an MHA. Look for “specialist” type of roles that will help get you there.

My hospital has infection prevention control specialists and quality specialists.

Try looking at other hospitals.

If you want to continue to work at your current hospital see if you can get the contact info for someone in HR or a lead of the department you’d be interested in (infection control, ect) and see if you could sit down with them to ask about how to get started in those departments and what that trajectory looks like. Might give you some good insight on where to start!

You could search for job openings on the American Society for Quality or Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology. Plenty of listings to choose from. You should try your luck there.

I’ve checked indeed and other job sites. However I don’t see anything related to quality assurance in healthcare.

Hello, I recently was reached out to by an in-house recruiter at a similar but slightly different company than the one I currently work for. The recruiter provided a base range and an OTE range. The lower end of that range is what I am currently making. The higher end of that range is almost 200k more than my current comp. The role is almost identical. I wasn’t looking to move, but that higher end range would set my family up very nicely for our goals. But I am happy at my current company. Help?
