BCG is in a completely different league than Slalom. Why would anyone want to stay at slalom lol
Doubtful you’ll keep the 50 hour weeks (weekends generally good though) and comp trajectory is pretty good. Plus clear pathway up, though of course as in all consulting/life no guarantees there either.
Take the Project Leader role. Haven’t seen it work out well for many who come as a Principal. Steep learning curve to the BCG way of doing things and this gives you more time to develop your network to support your path to Partner
Exactly the kind of advice I’m looking for. Thank you!
Caveat to BCG1 - yes you have more time to develop network for partner BUT need to make the cut to Principal after 2 years, and you kind of already need the network to do so
You need 1-2 Partners to pound the table to get to P but there’s still time to pick a new platform when you get to P. Hard to get any Partners to back you if you aren’t performing in line with expectations for current role
I came as a lateral and they said they would decide on level after interviews. By the way that’s how it can happen at McKinsey too.
OP if you want advice post some specific questions for your own situation.
Is it normal not hearing anything for a week after final round? The person (interviewing for another group) I met on the same interview day already got response. Very nervous now.
Depends. For regular consulting track usually a for sure yes hears back quick. That being said, in the middle of mba recruiting now so could take a little longer
